Homeless Shelter for Women and Women with Children

In 1988, Compton Welfare Rights Organization, Inc. (C.W.R.O., Inc.) became a private nonprofit 501 C-3 community service provider with the mission of addressing the needs of the homeless. We have provided homeless women and women with children (0-10 years of age) with free emergency shelter, food and on-site supportive services for 18 years of our 35 years of community services.

Compton Welfare Rights Organization, Inc. homeless shelter is an aggressive 60 day program geared towards immediate stability (shelter) and future total self-sufficiency. Our focus is to assist our clients with shifting their mind-set from a state of crisis (homelessness), to the state of stability (shelter), and towards a life of total self-sufficiency. More importantly, we are advocates for preventing homelessness in the future. We offer realistic life solutions and resources to homeless women and women with children. The purpose is to not only offer shelter, but to empower our residents with immediate resources to educational and financial assistance while helping them to reduce and eventually eliminate their need for public assistance.

Total self-sufficiency is the order of the day for our shelter and its residents. We are determined to help our clients live a life free from public assistance by helping them discover their personal power for success.
